ACCREDITATION Courses are offered by the Pinellas Technical Education Centers(PTEC), accredited by the Council on Occupational Education. Individual programs may also be accredited by national and state accrediting agencies.

Our Cadet Training Program will give you solid classroom instruction and real-world training. You’ll participate in lively and interactive classes to help you understand public works basics and the career choices available. Also, our extemship program pro-vides on-the-job training to help you in deciding on you in deciding on your specific career path in public works.
You’ll find that potential employers view a PWA Certificate of Completion as proof of your commitment to self-improvement and evidence of your knowledge of Public Works Skills.

Employee Growth And Retention: A fairly new and important component of the Public Works Academy is upgrade training for existing Public Works employees. Vocational training is the planned follow-up for cadet training and emphasizes apprenticeship and upgraded technical education programs. Advanced career development allows employees to receive additional training to help them obtain promotions. The program also links the Public Works employee to specific technical, supervisory, administrative and professional programs of higher education. An added advantage for both employer and employee is that some of the training can be conducted on site. Some training courses provide for certification, par-ticularly in the area of traffic and water/wastewater. Certified training allows students to earn college credit toward a degree at St.Petersburg College. |
