Some people assume that the rain that runs down the street during a storm is fairly clean, but it isn’t. Harmful substances that wash off roads, parking lots and rooftops can harm our rivers, lakes and the Bay. Protecting the lives, property and hence and area’s economic activity from the adverse impacts of storm and flood water is the most important function of storm water management: form daily management, monitoring and maintenance to being prepared for a disaster. Storm water management is the mechanism for controlling storm water runoff for the purposes of reducing downstream erosion, water quality degradation, flooding and mitigating the adverse effects of changes in land use on the aquatic environment.
